This training is approved for CE for social workers, counselors, and marriage and family therapists in the state of Ohio. This training is approved for prevention professionals in domain P2 and chemical dependency counselors in domain C2.
This session will provide participants with newly created resources and access to a Dashboard of Community Level Indicators, an Environmental Scan and additional products that describe the social determinants of health and risk/protective factors related to intimate partner violence and its prevention. The Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on Ohio workers as well how Ohioan’s make their livings will be discussed. Participants will learn about how the shift from manufacturing to service jobs has impacted wages and how unemployment figures do not account for pervasive poverty experienced by over 20% of Ohio’s children. These economic shifts, along with other factors interplay to create communities at risk for intimate partner and other forms of violence perpetration. Course participants will be able to ask questions via webinar chat during the Q&A portion of the course.
Participants are required to stay logged-in for the Q&A portion of the training for successful completion, as it is part of the educational portion of this course.
Rebecca Cline, LISW-S, ACSW is the 2014 Ohio Chapter NASW Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Prevention Programs Director for the Ohio Domestic Violence Network (ODVN). She is directly accountable for the DELTA FOCUS* Project, a local, statewide and national primary prevention of intimate partner violence initiative funded by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Ms. Cline oversees the activities of ODVN’s Prevention Team and provides training and technical assistance about domestic and family violence prevention to Ohio communities. Cline’s background includes domestic violence shelter work, domestic violence related healthcare training and community education, community organizing and coalition building. She is a skilled facilitator, collaborator, and leader. Ms. Cline is past President of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and is a former member of the NASW’s National Board of Directors.
Dr. Sandra Ortega has worked side by side with the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s Prevention Team since 2007 as an Empowerment Evaluator. In her role, she has provided a critical friend lens of all aspects of ODVN’s prevention program, created tools for measuring outcomes and program effectiveness, as well as assisted with using evaluation data for program improvement.
