New entrepreneurs & small business owners will get a clear, comprehensive explanation of the accounting principals for managing their venture. Then they will explore the choices of software systems used to collect, compile and publish reports and review the selection criteria for QuickBooks, Quicken and others.
This course is aimed at any small business entrepreneur who is seeking a strong foundation & understanding of how to use & optimize the accounting system to support their success.

Peter King, CPA, FHFMA
An experienced executive with a broad range of leadership experience at the executive level in healthcare organizations. Peter has developed an excellent reputation as a creative, results-oriented individual. He has a strong financial background and has been successful at the executive level in hospitals, health systems, and physician groups. Peter joined SCORE in 2015.
EXPERIENCE
Chief Financial Officer of two different hospitals over a 12-year period, including oversight of both clinical and non-clinical operations. Led financial turnarounds at both organizations.
President of a hospital-owned physician group consisting of over 100 doctors over a 3-year period. Developed a physician leadership structure, implemented significant revenue improvements, and achieved significant improvements in the group's financial performance.
Recent oversight of selection and implementation of a property management system to organize over 100 properties and 400 leases for a health system.
Recent assignment as a hospital Interim CFO to provide stability and continuity during a transition period.
Significant accomplishments in business development including formation of real estate partnerships with physician groups, development of free-standing emergency rooms, and initiation of incentivized co-management agreements with physicians.
Started and led a managed care and government reimbursement function for a health system. Also, coordinated the purchase of a significant partnership interest in a physician-owned surgical hospital and served as a Board member.
