In conjunction with Women’s History Month, Mary Wineberg speaks about her autobiography, Unwavering Perseverance. Wineberg shares her struggles, her journey and her victory in achieving her dreams.
The story of Mary Wineberg is one of extraordinary determination. She overcame astronomical odds and monumental challenges to grace the top step of the Olympic Podium. Her path to Olympic Gold is unlike any the sport has ever seen. She was not a high school standout. She was not a star in college and she came up short 5 years in a row trying to run post collegiality. How could a young girl, abandoned by her mother, and from a disadvantaged background take what seemed to be average talent all the way to Olympic Gold?
Mary Wineberg is a 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and a 2007 World Championship Gold Medalist in the 4x400 meter relay in track and field. She is now retired from the sport and was inspired to write her story to heal from her past, be able to forgive and move on, and motivate others to strive for their dreams. As an educator, Mary loves to give back as a positive role model and show that dreams can come true.
Following the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase Wineberg’s book and get it signed. Join us for a morning of inspiration with Mary Wineberg!
