BUILDING SERVICES SPECIALIST
Xavier University’s Department of Physical Plant is seeking applications for the position of Building Services Specialist. Primary purpose of this position is to perform light and heavy cleaning duties in University buildings, independently or with others.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: sweep, mop, strip, spray-buff and wax floors; vacuum and scrub carpets; clean and disinfect showers and bathrooms (toilets, urinals, basins, mirrors, etc.); restock bathroom supplies; dust surfaces; clean and polish furniture and other furnishings; sweep and mop floors, stairs (inside and outside buildings) and other surfaces; vacuum rugs in rooms and public areas; clean and dust furniture, pictures, and door trim; wash window sills and glass in corridor doors; wash glass and trim in entrance doors; sweep or shovel snow from steps and walks at building entrances and connecting walks; change incandescent/fluorescent light bulbs; report malfunctions and repairs needed to supervisor; remove trash and recycling to central pick-up area; replace trash can liners; remove debris in and around buildings; set up tables and chairs as required by event sponsor; make deliveries, pick up recycling, drive trucks as needed, and install Mall Banners; make beds; clean blackboards and erasers; restock chalk; and maintain equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned.
The typical hours for this position are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with some opportunity for overtime.
Qualifications:
High school diploma and one year related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience; and ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment. Valid driver’s license and deemed insurable by Xavier’s insurance carrier required.
