Cincinnati Opera Education Establishes Opera-tunities Residency Program

CINCINNATI—Cincinnati Opera Education announces open auditions for its 2008–2009 Opera-tunities Residency Program, a new interactive component to its successful educational programming. Auditions for teaching artists will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Music Hall’s Corbett Opera Center.

The Opera-tunities Residency Program, which will launch this fall, includes three in-school programs: “Opera in a Box,” offering a fun introduction to opera; “Take a Closer Look,” presenting an in-depth look at a particular opera; and “Opera from the Bottom Up,” providing students a chance to create their own opera.

Teaching Artist Auditions

Cincinnati Opera is seeking highly-creative teaching artists with talents in singing, composition, set design, acting, directing, and/or teaching to participate in the 2008–2009 Opera-tunities Residency Program. Qualified candidates should have experience working with young people, basic opera knowledge, and be able to demonstrate excitement for opera through their preferred art form in a 5-minute presentation designed for the classroom. Positions are part-time and paid, and teaching opportunities may be sporadic.
