    Job Summary:

    Assistant Professor (tenure-track) to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics; conduct methodological and collaborative research leading to publication and external funding; provide academic advising; provide service to the institution and the profession.

    Faculty in the Department of Statistics supervise student research, serve on graduate committees and are committed to diversity and inclusive excellence. In addition to active partnerships with colleagues on campus, statistics faculty members collaborate with nearby government agencies, and industry to provide research opportunities, seminars and colloquia, student internships, and scholarships. Faculty have the opportunity to work with the department’s Statistical Consulting Center to provide collaborative consulting services to faculty, staff and students throughout the university.     Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics; conduct methodological and collaborative research leading to publication and external funding; provide academic advising; provide service to the institution and the profession.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, data science or closely related field by date of appointment.

    Desired Qualifications:

    Consideration may be given to candidates who will enhance the university’s growing data analytics activities by possible collaborations with analytics colleagues in political science, geography, media, journalism and film or biology; have an excellent record in, or potential for, methodological and collaborative research; have an interest in teaching a wide variety of statistics courses; who have experience teaching face-to-face courses; or an expertise in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, data mining, network analysis, text analysis, statistical programming and data visualization.
