    PURPOSE OF POSITION:
    To provide HR support services for the assessment and implementation of strategies to address a broad spectrum of HR compliance and employee relations matters; ensure that HR compliance and employee relations strategies and solutions are consistent with CCHMC polices, mission and values.  Support Human Resources Directors, Business Partners and Consultants, management and employees in assigned business units to promote and maintain HR compliance, positive employee relations and maximize employee performance.

    EDUCATION\WORK EXPERIENCE:  
    Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related discipline and 3 years’ experience in Human Resources or a significantly related area (proven in-depth employee relations experience)
    Preferred:
    • PHR or SPHR certified
    • Experience working in a highly complex organization
     
    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Employee Relations
    Serve as a proficient resource for employee relations.  Partner with HR partners, employees and management to promote and maintain positive employee relations (ER).   Establish and maintain relationships to proactively identify, manage and resolve employee relations concerns; partner to create specific action plans for addressing individual employee behavior and/or performance concerns; identify resources to assist clients in addressing ER concerns. Interpret policies and counsel regarding responsibilities and rights as CCHMC employees; proactively identify, manage and facilitate the equitable resolution of job-related complaints and concerns; and conduct internal investigations and report findings as appropriate. Ensure consistent practices/decision making in ER within work group in order to mitigate risk and promote a professionally ethical work environment. Identify, analyze, and provide effective conflict resolution practices.
     
    Guidance
    Provide proficient consultation and guidance to management and HR partners in the interpretation of HR policies, procedures, programs and application of related laws and regulations. Participate in efforts to develop employee relations best practices and propose new/modified policies to better meet organizational needs.  Represent HR on hospital-wide teams or committees as assigned.
     
    Data Management
    Provide and consistently document decisions in keeping with best practices and to minimize risk in employee relations situations. Complete encounter or investigation documentation in a timely fashion. Assist in the preparation of required and supporting documentation for: unemployment claims, conflict resolution claims, federal and state agency claims and employment related litigation.  Assist in measuring, assessing and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of employee relations services. Analyze employee relations data to identify trends and offer solutions to effectively manage problematic trends.  Assist in internal audits of employee relations issues and make recommendations to resolve issues in accordance with policies, practices, and procedures.
     
    Quality Improvement
    Keep abreast of changes in the field of employee relations through relevant continuing education, seminars and literature. Practice utilizing consistent and standardized processes.   Recommend changes to policies and practices to respond to regulatory changes, environmental changes, and changes due to advancements in the field of Human Resources. 
     
    Project Management
    Serve as a member of project teams to facilitate process improvement activities.  Collaborate with others to implement and evaluate departmental or organization wide project plans.  Accurately report tasks and status to project lead.  
     
    Analysis
    Compile, organize, summarize, prepare and/or analyze data for designated projects and report appropriately.  May research issues related to assigned projects.  Distribute reports to the necessary parties.  May provide data to assist with audits and/or maintain records.  May process and distribute ad hoc requests for information as requested.  May participate in data or database management. May conduct, work in conjunction with others to produce, and/or provide oversight of audits.
