    KENTON COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD invites applications for the position of:
    Facilities Maintenance Specialist- Locksmith

        Open Until Filled
    Responsible for all aspects of construction including: servicing all types of doors, door hardware, and equipment - including locks and keying systems. Familiar with performing skilled work in a variety of fields in the maintenance and repair of buildings, structures and related facilities. Other duties may include participation in snow removal during a winter operations event.

    This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
    • Installs and maintains all lock systems, maintains current and relevant record keeping according to FAA and Kenton County Airport Board specifications.
    • Repairs and maintains the mechanical and electrical aspect of all the automatic doors.
    • Maintains an accurate and proper inventory of locks, cylinders, keys and door parts.
    • Issues security keys to both internal and external stakeholders. Assist in implementation and management of multiple keying systems.
    • Repairs and maintains the mechanical and electronic components of all automatic doors.
    • Ensures that all security devices are maintained and in adequate working condition.
    • Operates aerial lifts, forklift trucks and other heavy equipment.
    • Assist and supports all other functions within Facilities Maintenance.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

    High School Diploma or GED plus five years of experience as a Locksmith. Additional experience in areas such as commercial pedestrian doors, access control systems or background in general construction; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    • Valid Operator’s License.
    • Associated Locksmiths of America certifications.
    • Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA)
    • Repair of doors and locksets.
    • Operation of hand and power tools;
    • Knowledge of all types of door systems;
    • Heavy equipment and machinery;
    • General installation and maintenance repair;

    • Demonstrated skill in cutting duplicate or new keys using key-cutting machines, impressions or code key machines
    • Demonstrated skill in installing locks and closers in doors and disassemble electrical and mechanical locking devices.
    • Demonstrated skill in maintaining locking systems by repairing and replacing worn springs, tumblers and other parts
    • Demonstrated ability trouble-shooting electronics.
    • Clearly and effectively communicating, both orally and in writing;
    • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets;
    • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

    Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    Very Heavy Work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
