    Job Description
    KENTON COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD invites applications for the position of:    Department Assistant
    CLOSING DATE:

    CLASS SUMMARY:
    Provides administrative support to the Police Department. Incumbents perform clerical functions such as reception, typing, filing and providing general customer service and performing data entry and report compilation activities. Responsibilities may include preparing regulatory, training and other reports, preparing confidential correspondence and staffing special projects.

    ESSENTIALL DUTIES:
    This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
    • Security Escort Program
    o Perform duties related to scheduling personnel through a designated computer program
    o Establish a list of personnel who are eligible to perform duties related to escorting
    • Commercial Vehicles
    o Perform duties reference the distribution of commercial vehicle permits. This includes the verification of vehicle registrations through license plates and the vehicle identification numbers
    o Coordinate with administrative personnel to verify commercial vehicle documentation
    o Communicate with commercial vehicle permit seekers to address any concerns and assist with the process
    o Issue permit sticker and AVI tags to all commercial vehicles
    o Perform the recording and logging on a spreadsheet; process payments and activate all vehicles into a designated computer program
    o Assist with duties involving ramp permits
    o Performs lost and found activities – secures property that is turned in by KCAB employees as well as private individuals.

    Attempt to identify and contact owner by telephone or mail. Compares lost property logs with found property logs and reports in system to assist with finding owner. Returns property to finder or destroys if owner cannot be found within 60 days. Takes inquiries for lost property and lists in lost property log. Compares with found property reports and log.
    • Performs data entry and typing activities – enters data for various reports and fingerprint cards into database. Compiles delinquent parking ticket lists, re-certification list for Police Department and Identification Department. Type’s simple letters, memos, correspondence as assigned.
    • Performs miscellaneous assignments such as: copying, faxing, filing, maintaining inventory of office supplies, mailings, etc. Keeps copier and fax free of jams and performs minor repairs.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

    TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
    High School Diploma or GED and three years of related work experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
    • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.

    KNOWLEDGE OF:
    • Basic administrative concepts

    SKILL IN:
    • Clearly and effectively communicating both orally and in writing;
    • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, graphs and spreadsheets;
    • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
    • Preparing and executing contracts; bonds and insurance.
    • Demonstrated skill in data entry.
    • Demonstrated skill in use of multi-line telephone.
    • Demonstrated skill in the ability to prioritize and organize.
    • Demonstrated skill in working with and preparing confidential correspondence.

    ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    Incumbents in this position work primarily in an office setting.
    Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
