    Job Description

    Status: Non-Exempt

    Purpose: The Department of Building & Grounds at Mount St. Joseph University invites applications for a Mail Room clerk position (Full time). This position administers the mail room shipping and receiving, including dock management, supervision of inventory until delivery, and ensuring accuracy in the everyday receiving and handling of deliveries.

    Duties:

    • Process Federal Express, UPS and U.S. Post.
    • Process incoming and outgoing mail including packages and truck shipments.
    • Pick up and deliver incoming, outgoing and inner office mail throughout the University twice a day.
    • Receive and log letters and packages arriving via couriers as well as other shipping services. This includes proper notification of University personnel receiving shipments.
    • Assist University staff, as needed, with packages to be mailed from the Mail Center.
    • Track shipments and deliveries. Requires ability to use appropriate Mail Center software.
    • Retrieve items from the University's in-house storage as needed.
    • Interact with vendors pertaining to equipment overseen by Mail Center Staff.
    • Stay informed about current US postal regulations and postal rates.
    • Assist with training and onboarding new personnel.
    • Monitor the policies and procedures of all delivery methods used by University staff and stay informed of any upcoming changes.
    • Prioritize, sort and deliver mail and overnight letters and packages.
    • Center requests are being processed and completed in a timely, efficient manner.
    • Print vendor invoices, and process them.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervision Received: Works toward a previously defined objective with some supervision and uses a wide range of procedures; plans and arranges own work going to the Building & Grounds Mechanic Supervisor when necessary.

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

    Experience: 1-2 years of office environment experience 

    A demonstrated ability and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    Specialized Training: Basic office software applications, including Microsoft programs; Outlook, Word and Excel.

    Work Environment, Physical Demands:

    Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel frequently. Must be able to lift packages up to 50 -70 pounds frequently. Must be able to spend a large part of the day standing up and moving around. Must have a valid drivers license.
