    Job Description

    Gateway Community & Technical College invites applications for a full-time faculty position within our Nursing department. This faculty member will engage in team teaching in providing nursing education

    • Participates in instructional presentation and delivery; the planning and designing of instructional programs; instructional evaluation and assessment
    • Assist in the design and update of course syllabi, curriculum review, revision, and development.
    • Incorporates the latest instructional technologies and interactive learning technologies into course delivery.
    • Assumes a participative role in supporting and promoting the mission, goals, and objectives of Gateway by performing the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the leadership of the department, division, and College.
    • Will be responsible for supplemental teaching in clinical and skills laboratory each semester as necessary
    • Recruit students to the Nursing program.
    • Advise students who are in the program.
    • Monitor and work to improve student retention.
    • Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
    • Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    • MSN or BSN with 18 hours of graduate work in Nursing.
    • Classroom or Clinical teaching experience
    • Minimum of two years’ full time or equivalent experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse within the immediate past five years.
    • Completion of a professional nursing education program approved by a state board of nursing
    • Medical/Surgical experience
    • To satisfy the requirements of area clinical facilities the successful candidate will be required to submit to a drug screen
    • Current active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Kentucky

    • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment as well as external business and community partners, representing his/her self in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
    • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy. 
    • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Pediatric and Mental Health experience
    • Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations. 
    • Experience working at the community college level.
