    Job Description

    Status: Exempt

    Purpose:

    The Coordinator Project EXCEL is responsible to oversee and schedule professional tutors as well as advising and implementation of the Time Management/Organization Program for Project EXCEL students. The Coordinator will maintain active involvement with recruitment activities and events with regional high schools.

    Duties:

    • Create and maintain a record of ongoing instructional sessions which includes mentoring, advising, program procedures, learning strategies, time management/organization
    • Meet with students on a weekly basis to monitor academic progress and performance
    • Confer with students and appropriate tutors regarding specific learning issues and needs
    • Work in conjunction with students and tutors to develop an academic plan consistent with student needs
    • Monitor students and assist tutors as the academic plan is put into action
    • Model methods and assist in fine-tuning or reworking the plan in order to support student success
    • Work with students, administration, and staff in an instructional role regarding issues with Time Management students
    • Conduct weekly meetings with administration and staff to determine the progress of EXCEL students
    • Assist Administrative Team in planning and presenting in-service educational programs for students and professional development for instructional staff and community outreach programs
    • Collaborate with Director in providing instructional guidance and support, monitoring, advising, and mentoring for students experiencing substantial difficulties
    • Develop and maintain a weekly Attendance Summary Sheet, designed to identify and monitor attendance issues
    • Assist with tutor evaluations.
    • Review mid-term grades with instructional team members each semester
    • Plan and organize departmental events, including the Graduation Gala
    • Contributes to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance
    • the services of the department; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed
    • Management of the Project EXCEL Learning Lab
    • Schedule tutoring sessions for students as well as for the Instructional Team
    • Active involvement with recruitment activities and events, including off-campus events in the day, and evening time frames.  Some events require travel. This involvement will include, but not be limited to building relationships with teachers and staff of regional high schools as well as visiting their campuses.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    None

    Supervision Received:

    Works under general direction toward broadly defined objectives; refer specific problems to Director of Project EXCEL when clarification or interpretation of organizational policies are involved.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience minimum

    Experience:

    Related work experience with education and training of adults; demonstrated creativity, managerial, time management, organization, writing, and problem-solving skills

    A demonstrated ability and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    Specialized Training:

    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and adaptive software
