    Job Description
    TITLE:               Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer
    LOCATION:      Support Center
                             1520 Madison Road
                             Cincinnati, OH  45206     
    QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's Degree in Special Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration or equivalent; a minimum of five years of supervision and/or administration of larger programs for people with developmental disabilities; and a strong background in fiscal management are required. Additionally, a Superintendent's Certification from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is required.

    Exercises leadership in the agency and in the broader Hamilton County community to ensure that HCDDS is known and respected as a program of excellence. Maintains positive relationships with contract partners to assist them in offering choice and quality services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Leads the agency in successful passage of property tax levies. Ensures that the agency philosophy remains one of self-determination for individuals served and their families. Plans and administers services for persons with developmental disabilities (i.e., early intervention and school-age programs, programs for adults, residential programs), in accordance with applicable laws/regulations and Board policy; formulates plans for facilities and capital improvements; researches and prepares agency applications to obtain grants and other financial resources; establishes and maintains administrative systems (i.e., accounting, record keeping, transportation, information technology, purchasing, Human Resources), and programs (i.e., public relations and information, facilities and equipment preventative maintenance, training), to ensure efficient and effective agency operations; attends meetings and conferences as required and prepares necessary reports and financial records.
    Directs and supervises operations carried out by agency personnel to ensure adherence to applicable laws/regulations, Board policy and agency standards; approves hiring and disciplinary action of classified personnel; evaluates management personnel and approves evaluations conducted by supervisory personnel; formulates agency policy and issues directives to personnel concerning program activities; conducts agency and management staff meetings; reviews program progress and activity reports of personnel; confers with staff on development and improvements in agency policy. 
    Articulates Board mission and philosophy vis-a-vis policies and procedures; represents the Board to relevant state and county agencies, individuals served, families, staff and community members; assures attainment of agency goals and objectives; conducts on-site visits of agency facilities and programs to observe and evaluate methods and techniques; communicates with staff and community members to assess necessary improvements to programs; evaluates agency systems and programs to ensure health, safety and service satisfaction of persons served.  Demonstrates a commitment to diversity among all stakeholders.
