    In this role, the engineer will work as part of an agile team on many essential activities including automating and accelerating the testing, release, and deployment of applications into our runtime environment; establishing and employing Continuous Integration practices and tools in a distributed software development environment; and responding to occasional operational concerns. The ideal candidate is part programmer with operational, systems or networking knowledge, and likes to whittle down complex tasks.

    Duties/Physical Demands:

    You'll pursue the best solutions for the University in the following ways:
    • Build future roadmaps, strategies and technical visions to support the central information technology organization.
    • Design and implement delivery pipelines using CI tools
    • Collaborate with and coach project teams in leveraging best practices to support infrastructure, scalability, and application performance.
    • Identify and act on opportunities to implement mechanisms for automating and increasing the efficiency of the entire software delivery lifecycle.
    • Collaborate with technical and functional business clients and teams within the central information technology organization to build new core capabilities.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field earned by date of hire and six or more years of application development and deployment or IT related experience.
    -or-
    Associate's Degree in Information Technology or a related field earned by date of hire and eight or more years of application development and deployment or IT related experience.
    -or-
    Or ten or more years of application development and deployment or IT related experience.

     

    Desired Qualifications:

    We are looking for you to have hands-on advanced experience with the following:
    • Creating and managing automated build pipelines with tools such as AWS CodePipeline or GitLab CI
    • Acting as architect and lead engineer as you engage with multiple stakeholders in transitioning from traditional on-premise solutions to scalable AWS cloud service solutions
    • Creating highly available enterprise solutions utilizing infrastructure and configuration as code frameworks, container services and process automation (Puppet, Terraform, Kubernetes, MuleSoft, AWS, other)
    • Providing training, guidance, and mentoring in software solution development to less experienced staff as you work with individuals and teams across the organization
    • Creating, assessing or recommending enhancements to new/existing processes for testing, building, and deploying service solutions
    • Defining core programs necessary for application performance and service monitoring and the development of long-term plans and proposals for continued sustainability
