    Financial Strategy Intern

    The intern position supports the efforts of the Financial Strategy department in gathering and analyzing information, developing proposed solutions, and facilitating excellence in the financial and operational effectiveness of the Board. The incumbent is required to exercise initiative in applying education and /or skills, work semi-independently, be resourceful and systematic in approach to various assignments and tasks and may be responsible for projects or be a part of a project team.

    This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
    • Assists with the annual budget process. Provides analytical and organizational assistance to the department in the development of the annual O&M budget. Works with department managers to understand their budget submissions. Maintains and updates departmental budget files/folders.
    • Assists with the development of business case and other analysis in support of decisions regarding investment of financial resources or airport operations.
    • Assists with the annual supplies inventory processes. Provides assistance with updates of supplies inventory reporting and analysis. Participates in supplies inventory walk-throughs and assists with the creation of action item reports. Assists with Infor supplies inventory transactions.
    • Assists in review of business processes including modeling and design alternatives and the facilitation of various business projects as requested.
    • Assists in analysis of capital projects within the organization.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

    Be actively enrolled in college having completed basic finance/accounting courses and be pursuing an Accounting, Finance, or Business degree or have an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.

    • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.

    • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite specifically Excel, Word, Powerpoint;
    • Business Analysis Principles and Practices;
    • Financial Analysis Principles and Practices;
    • Accounting Principles and Practices.

    • Clear and effective communication skills both oral and written.
    • Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
    • Accuracy and consistency in work product and attention to detail.
    • Use of Excel and other standard analytical programs.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

    Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    Incumbents in this position work primarily in an office setting.
