    Job Description
    KENTON COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD invites applications for the position of:
    Planning Development Department Intern
    CLOSING DATE:    Open Until Filled

    This position supports project managers, engineers, and construction inspectors in the Planning and Development Department. The primary responsibilities include assisting with the management of small contracts, construction inspection, project filing, and closeout documentation. Other responsibilities include assisting other KCAB departments with respect to design and construction issues and assisting the team with various ongoing Airport programs/projects.

    This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
    • Assists with the management of small design and/or construction contracts.
    • Assists construction inspectors with inspection tasks and documentation.
    • Assists project managers/engineers with construction project documentation (wage rate reviews, Request For Information (RFIs), plan comments, etc…), as well as project filing and preparing closeout documentation.
    • Assists with the preparation of reports and research to support project managers/engineers.
    • Updates KCAB record drawings to reflect recent changes to facility floor plans, utilities, airfield pavements, and other various airport features located on airport property.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

    High school diploma and currently attending or enrolled in a college program with a focus on Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, Survey, Aviation Management or a related field to the area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance.
    • Valid Driver’s License

    • Planning/Architecture/Engineering/Construction drawing development and management
    • Presentation and graphics development
    • Knowledge of aviation, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and field surveys are not required but a plus.
    • Working with project management.

    • Task oriented approach to completing assignments
    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications and AutoCAD
    • Clearly and effectively communicating, both orally and in writing
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Good analytical skills
    • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

    Positions in this class typically require: climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
    Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
