    Job Description
    The role of an interpreter is to help organizations facilitate understanding in communication between people who speak different languages. The professional interpreter interprets between two languages in such a way that effective communications takes place between the participating language speakers/signers. As an independent contractor, you choose which appointments to take and when.
    • Render accurate, comprehensive and professional interpreting services per the national Code of Ethics.
    • Interpreting activity is performed in compliance with the IMIA Standards of Practice, National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care, and the Code of Ethics.
    • Maintain professional standards by attending continuing education training to maintain the highest standards for the delivery of service. This may include a 40-hour medical interpreting training course and 4 to 10 hours of continuing education courses annually for the following years.
    • Speak, read, and write fluently in ENGLISH and SPANISH
    • The interpreter will maintain and improve his/her interpreting skills through professional training or education in the interpretation field.
    • Be dependable and professional
    • Neat and professional appearance
    • At least a high school education, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • The ability to speak English and Spanish at a fluent level
    • Have specialized knowledge (medical or legal terminology) due to work or educational experience
    • Sensitive to cultures other than your own
    • Authorized to work in the United States
    • Willing to do screening including TB test, drug test, and FBI background check
    • Able to provide documentation of MMR/Varicella immunizations
    • Will need reliable transportation
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
    • Experienced interpreters preferred
    - HS Diploma or GED
    - Immunizations where applicable
