    Job Description
    KENTON COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD invites applications for the position of:    Industrial Maintenance Technician- Environmental Operations
        Open Until Filled

    Responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical/mechanical/industrial systems that are part of the environmental systems at the Airport. Emphasis on pumps, motors, valves, and Programmable Logic Control (PLC). Preventative maintenance and repair on the same systems. Operate various measuring, diagnostic and testing equipment.

    This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
    • Performs maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of electrical systems/equipment related to stormwater treatment systems, and associated conveyance equipment, such as storm and glycol pump stations and processes at the Airport.
    • Maintains adequate records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, and time worked.
    • Maintain, calibrate and safely repair mechanical systems such as pumps, bearings, valves, gears, etc.
    • Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on single stage centrifugal blowers.
    • Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation on various diffusers.
    • Performs preventative maintenance on diversion valves for deice pads related to stormwater treatment systems, and associated conveyance equipment and processes.
    • Oversight of contractors to ensure they are working safely and within the established job scope.
    • Complete work orders and record time/material utilized on jobs, through a computer-based asset management system.
    • Assists in research and ordering spare parts for equipment/instruments.
    • Assists in inventorying system equipment/instruments.
    • Other duties may include Confined space entry, snow removal, operating heavy equipment, data entry, Environmental Operations on-call responsibilities, as well as supporting other needs of the Airport as assigned.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

    High School diploma or GED and five years’ experience in relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as listed above.

    • Journeyman Electrician License or higher preferred and/or accredited certification or diploma in association with jobs listed above
    • Commercial Driver’s license – Class B (or the ability to acquire a Class B within 6 months of the hire date)
    • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance

    • Electrical theory and calculations;
    • Motor controls;
    • Mechanical concepts, i.e. engine operation, maintaining industrial equipment;
    • Ability to read blueprints.
    • Cutting, soldering and welding;
    • Mechanical concepts, i.e. structures, physics, hydraulic systems, high speed rotating equipment, pump and engine operations;
    • Generators and Automatic Transfer Switches;
    • Equipment and associate conduit/wiring installation;
    • High voltage, motor, instrument and lighting controls
    • Programmable Logic Controls (PLC’s);
    • Preventative Maintenance practices;
    • Fluid power and pneumatics;
    • Generators, VFDs and UPS;
    • OSHA standards, National Electric Code guidelines;

    • Clearly and effectively communicating both orally and in writing;
    • Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing and spreadsheets;
    • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

    Positions in this class typically require working in confined spaces, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, talking hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    Heavy Work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
