    KENTON COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD invites applications for the position of:
    Utility Specialist- Airfield Maintenance

    CLOSING DATE:    Open Until Filled

    Responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of airport underground utilities systems (with the exception of Electric/Data).

    This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
    • Maintenance and repair of underground utilities with the exception of Electric/Data.
     Water
     Gas
     Storm
     Sanitary
     Irrigation
    • Project review for new utility systems on an as needed basis.
    • Temporary meters for construction use.
    • Assist with utility locates
    • Performs servicing and testing of plumbing equipment
    • Performs water main, fire hydrant and other water system repair.
    • Operates gasoline and diesel powered trucks and light pieces of equipment such as backhoes, tractors, runway brooms, tractor mowers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, and snow plows.
    • On-call 24/7 to respond to system problems.
    • Complete work orders and record time/material utilized.
    • Performs on-call duties, specific position assignments will vary based on department needs.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

    High School diploma or GED and five years plumbing experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

    • Commercial Driver’s license- Class A
    • Master Plumber License
    • Cross Connection and Control Testers License
    • Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance

    • Kentucky State Plumbing Code;
    • Testing and repair of cross connection devises;
    • Wide variety of hand and power tools;
    • Test and repair of water meters;
    • OSHA Standards, Airfield and FAA Regulations.

    • Use of a variety of computer- based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets;
    • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

    Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    Very Heavy Work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
