The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ), founded in 1885, is a world leader in scrap metal recycling & trading. With over 80 locations, the Joseph Company is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nucor Corporation (NUE) a Fortune 200 Company.
Develops and implements the rail negotiation strategy in conjunction with each related Nucor division.
Negotiates pricing of transportation services to maximize business and profit opportunities.
Develops and maintains relationships with accounts, including major railroads, steel mills, and district offices.
Travels to develop and maintain relationships with customer base.
Interfaces daily with Operating Divisions, providing rate and “market” information on transportation matters, as well as technical support.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business discipline, transportation or marketing preferred.
Minimum 3 years’ business experience. Long-term sales cycle experience preferred.
Key Account Management experience preferred.
Experience in transportation or trading commodities helpful.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Strong organizational and negotiating/sales abilities.
Ability to travel 30% - 50% travel required.
