After a brief hiatus, Second Sunday on Main makes its highly anticipated return this weekend, with a new concept that extends throughout Over-the-Rhine. The new campaign, Second Sunday OTR, is a walkable market that will promote existing brick-and-mortar businesses and pop-up merchants, promoting food and retail items at booths located along the sidewalk. Live music and performances will also be featured as part of the festivities. Second Sunday OTR dates are August 9th, September 13th, & October 11th, from noon-5 p.m. For more information, click here.
Downtown restaurants and bars continue to look at innovative ways to create more outdoor dining while providing an enjoyable – yet safe – environment at their establishments. A perfect example is HomeMakers Bar has transformed the corner of Jackson and 13th streets into a summer oasis, featuring a vintage AirStream trailer, which serves as a bar offering HomeMakers’ signature handcrafted cocktails. The patio also features socially distanced seating and cozy outdoor lighting. The space, called HomeMakers Outpost, will also host live music through a partnership with Cincinnati Music Accelerator to showcase local musical talent and create a sense of community within the space. The Outpost is open on weekends with the following hours: Friday, 4 p.m. – midnight; Saturday, 1 p.m. – midnight; and Sunday, 1-10 p.m.
I can’t wait to visit Downtown Cincinnati’s newest boutique hotel, Kinley, located at 37 West Seventh Street. To celebrate the opening of the new hotel, Kinley is hosting themed sessions called “Sincerely Yours” on its Instagram Page each Sunday, and each session highlights a local business. The series aims to encourage the brand’s goal of promoting creativity and connection. This Sunday’s them is cooking, with “The Art of Pastry Baking” hosted by Khora, the new restaurant located inside the hotel. For more details on the series, click here.
In case you need a good excuse to enjoy more ice cream, Graeter’s has been releasing special edition flavors every two weeks during the summer, and the latest flavor is a take on an American classic: peanut butter and jelly. Try this bonus, limited-time-only flavor at Graeter’s downtown locations on Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine or on Fountain Square.
Speaking of Fountain Square, it has been great to see Downtown Cincinnati workers, residents and visitors enjoy lunchtime vendors and evening programming at this great civic space in the heart of the city. This Tuesday will be an exciting day for Fountain Square as we celebrate the grand opening of the Fifth Third Center Stage, the new, permanent stage at the plaza. Join the festivities virtually at the Better Together Virtual Concert, a Facebook Live event featuring local musical acts Kevin McCoy Band and Matt Waters. Tune in this Tuesday from 12:30-2 p.m.
