I am working as volunteer in a campaign for saving Alex Daniel. He is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant. He was diagnosed with Diamond Black Anemia.

To give you some background on this case, he lives in Costa Rica but has been recently evaluated by the Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio. After running several medical tests last December, the doctors were able to determine that he is a good candidate for a transplant. At this point, this is the only option that can save his life.

The cost for the prework, transplant procedure and 90 day patient follow up provided by the hospital was estimated to be approximately $1 million. Since the family does not live in the US and does not have any type of medical insurance in the United States, this amount will have to be paid out of pocket, 30 days prior to the his admission to the hospital.

The hospital recommendation considering Daniel's health is to do it this July.  As you can imagine, the family is under a lot of pressure to raise this amount of money by the end of June to be able to save their son's life. They have started a fundraiser through YouCaring in Costa Rica and the Bone Marrow Foundation accepted his case for donations in the US community via One to One funds. DBA is extremely rare and there are only 3 other children with this blood disorder in Costa Rica, which makes it even harder to bring more awareness. So far, we have raised almost half of the funds needed, but we need all the help we can get to raise the full amount and provide this child a life-saving opportunity here in Cincinnati!

His full story can be found at
www.teamdani.com.   I can also provide official documentation from the Hospital if needed.
I am hoping you can support us with the following:

    • Give visibility of this case by forwarding the information.
    • Allowing us to set up Donation Jars for collecting collaborations in upcoming events. We can either take our people to the location you indicated us or give you the materials and donation jars if your preference is that your staff do this for us.
    • Donating funds online: https://onetoonefunds.crowdsterapp.com/alexdanielleon
Please feel free to contact Marisol Smyser at 513-304-2311.  I speak English and Spanish.
Thanks in advance for your help.  I do really hope we can work together in giving Daniel's the gift of life.

I trust in the good hearts of our Hispanic community.
