Safely dispose of unneeded medications using drop boxes, disposal pouchesOctober 22, 2019This Saturday, Oct. 26, is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Most abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, many times from the home medicine cabinet. Having unused medicine at home also increases the risk of accidental drug poisoning, especially among children.Several options for disposal are available year-round:
- Find a prescription drug drop box near you with Interact for Health’s online map.
New this fall: The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration just announced that electronic vaping devices -- without lithium batteries -- will be accepted at many drop-off locations. Search for locations at the DEA site.
- Request a biodegradable drug disposal pouch from Ohio’s SafeRx Collaborative.
