Café Cultura
What is culture? How does our culture affect our actions and interactions?
Café Cultura is a space to talk about culture as a community, to talk about our Cincinnatian Culture. Is there such a thing? This is an invitation to everyone who is interested in exploring their own self; anyone who wants to grow. We are comfortable sharing with others, remaining in the realm of questions, embracing ambiguity, accepting contradiction, cultivating debate. We welcome difference as a tonic for life! What represents difference for some might not for others and we are comfortable observing this dynamic. We leave scripts behind. Café Cultura is a place of void as an option for new spaces.
Like the Hive's Courage to Connect events, Café Cultura is a brave space for transformation and building community.
Is it possible that we are responsible for what happens in the world because of attachment to our culture? How does our culture serve us, others, and earth? Come and explore your suburban culture, intellectual culture, foreign-born culture, nation-based culture, immigrant culture, gender-based culture, profession-based culture; your culture as a parent, single parent, as an artist, as a Millennial, as a Midwesterner, as a West-sider or East-sider; if you’re willing to sit with others and cultivate dialogue, come!
We will share conversation over hot drinks and light snacks (feel free to bring finger foods and treats to share).
We will begin by bringing awareness to our own assumptions, ideas, and emotions, selective perceptions, and classifications. If you’re interested in taking cultural intelligence to a level beyond knowing facts about other cultures and being able to read cultural cues, to a level of cultural mindfulness, come and join us!
